Arden has been training with the UTF for over 10 years under Grandmaster Paul Irvin and instructors Ray Luongo and Carolyne Haycraft. In 2019 he was promoted to 1st degree and has been teaching ever since. During that time Arden has taught at UTF Portland alongside former program leaders Ray and Carolyne, and led the program during the summers of 2022 and 2023, before Ray and Carolyne’s departure in 2024.
Arden is currently studying computer science at Portland State University, and in his free time enjoys miniature painting and tabletop games.

Lula Hugo, I Dan
lula@utfpdx.com
Lula began her training with the UTF in 2015, while she was a 5th grade student at The Ivy School where Ray Luongo taught upper elementary. She has trained under Grandmaster Paul Irvin, Instructor Ray Luongo, and Carolyne Haycraft during her time with the UTF. She began teaching sections of classes once she earned the rank of 2nd Kup or red belt, later transitioning to teaching entire classes alongside Arden Dougherty at the junior color belt and advanced levels. Her involvement with the UTF led to her working with Carolyne's non-profit EMERJ-SafeNow, teaching self-defense and violence prevention workshops.
Outside of Taekwon-Do, Lula enjoys spending time out in nature, playing music, and reading whenever possible. She is currently working full time inside the Portland International Airport to earn money towards achieving her Commercial Pilot's License in hopes of piloting passenger planes.
